London: As part of a campaign by the Britain’s biggest Muslim charity, “hundreds” of buses will carry posters decorated with the phrase “Subhan’Allah”, or ‘Glory to Allah’.
Islamic Relief, Britain’s largest Islamic charity came up with the advertisements with the line ‘Subhan Allah’ – “gather the rewards of Ramadan”, for raising donations for their Ramadan aid for victims of the Syrian Civil War and portray Islam in a positive light.
The advertising posters with phrase “Subhan Allah” will appear in the cities with the largest Muslim communities like London, Leicester, Manchester,Birmingham and Bradford, as per Dailymail.
The announcement of the new campaign came the day after Labour’s Sadiq Khan, the son of a bus driver, crowned asLondon’s first Muslim leader.
Sadiq Khan is responsible for managing London’s transport infrastructure. The buses linked to a ‘political party or political cause’ will be ban . However, there are no rules against religious advertising.
England cricketer Moeen Ali is supporting the advertising campaign.
Imran Madden, a British convert to Islam and Director of Islamic Relief’s United Kingdom Branch said: “There is a lot of negativity around Muslims at the moment involving things such as counterterrorism issues.
“We want to change for the better the perception of Islam. The bus campaign is about breaking down barriers and challenging misconceptions, ” said Madden, a former geography teacher.
